KE Leaders Featured in October Workforce Panel
Knobelsdorff (KE) was proud to be represented by two of our own at the October Workforce Wednesday session hosted by DEED’s Workforce Strategy Consultants. Jason Peppler, Director of Learning and Development, and Brian Gray, Apprenticeship Program Manager, joined the panel to share how KE is using state-supported training programs to build a stronger, safer, and more skilled workforce.
What We Shared
Jason and Brian spoke about KE’s long-term commitment to developing people, and how that commitment is backed by action.
- Safety First: Our first MJSP grant focused on safety training, including NFPA 70E arc flash and lockout/tagout procedures. These are foundational skills that protect our team and reinforce our core value of Safety.
- Rapid Expansion: What started with one electrical training program has grown into four registered apprenticeship tracks - Electrical, Lineman, Labor, and Heavy Equipment Operator. These programs are designed to build technical skills and leadership potential.
- The ROI of Time: Brian, a Master Electrician with 12 years at KE, shared how a four-year apprenticeship can replace a decade of field-only experience. That means faster access to better wages, more responsibility, and long-term career growth.
Jason also emphasized that training isn’t just about checking a box, it’s about building a future. With over 25 years of experience helping teams grow, he’s seen firsthand how grant-funded programs like MJSP help KE stay competitive while investing in our people.
Why It Matters
At KE, we believe that investing in people is investing in our business. Whether it’s through the MJSP grant, incumbent worker training, or hands-on apprenticeships, we’re building a workforce that’s ready for what’s next, and we’re proud to be part of the conversation shaping Minnesota’s future.
