(Goodhue, Minnesota) May 4, 2022 — Knobelsdorff was awarded the 2022 Diamond Level STEP (Safety Training Evaluation Process), the highest level, through Association Builders and Contractors (ABC). This is the fifth year Knobelsdorff (KE) has achieved the Diamond Level STEP.
To qualify for the Diamond Level, award recipients must have a TRIR 50% below the NAICS code average. KE boosts a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.00 for 2021 and a three year average of 0.181, well below the national average of 2.00 for 2021 and three year national average of 2.00.
“We prioritize our commitment to safety to ensure our people go home safe,” said Karl von Knobelsdorff, CEO of KE. “Our promise to our people – our customers, employees and the communities we serve – is to always put them first and to make sure they get home safe.”
Safety Manager of KE Padriac Casey said, “The cross-functionality we have integrated into our safety, educational and training programs not only meets, but exceeds the regulatory requirements set by MNOSHA for AWAIR Program (A Workplace Accident and Injury Reduction act, Minnesota Statute 182.653). We’ve integrated safety, training and education protocols into our daily routines and we promote a strong culture of safety throughout our company in everything we do.”
Founded in 1989 as a safety benchmarking and improvement tool, STEP has evolved into a world-class safety management system that improves safety performance among participants regardless of company size or type of work. The Diamond STEP Award recipients are rated on safety processes and policies through 25 key components with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents. The key components include Leadership Commitment, Culture, Process and Results. Rating of the award range from Diamond (the highest), to Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Participant.
