(Goodhue, Minn.) February 26, 2023 – Knobelsdorff was once again awarded the top award through the Associated Builders and Contractors' Excellence in Construction (EIC) annual banquet, adding to an already impressive resume, winning the top Eagle Award for Electrical: Industrial Construction over $1 Million for work completed at Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) in Zumbrota, MN.
“Our team continues to excel at executing quality projects to the highest safety standards," said KE President and CEO Karl von Knobelsdorff. “We follow a simple model of the KE Way: taking care of our people, who take care of our customers, who then take care of us."
The firm had been honored by ABC three times already this year, winning the ABC 2022 MN/ND Diamond Step Award for their dedication to safety, AQC recertification, and the ABC 2022 Top Performing US Construction Company award.
The Associated Builders and Contractors Awards of Excellence Program have become the premier competition within the construction industry that recognizes outstanding construction projects across the nation. Excellence in Construction is a program that began at the MN/ND Chapter 27 years ago for Minnesota and North Dakota contractors and allows members the ability to compete with contractors across the nation.
Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) required a major upgrade of its manufacturing facility in Zumbrota, MN to meet the increasing demand for its products, contributing to feeding America, and to be at code with wastewater regulations. As the project’s electrical contractor, Knobelsdorff (KE) provided electrical design, project management services and provided installation of electrical components.
In 2016, DFA processed about 8 million pounds of milk a week and contributed more than $100 million annually to the local economy. The facility is now producing an estimated additional 7.5 million pounds of product.
