In 2019, Knobelsdorff served as EPC contractor and completed four solar projects for Nautilus, totaling 21 MW DC in Minnesota. These renewable energy projects were located in Helen, Warsaw, Northfield, and Walcott, and they were all new construction. We used bifacial modules and single-axis trackers (one fixed tilt) at all sites, with a fixed-price contract for all.
KE provided the mechanical, electrical, civil construction and commissioning services for these projects. Additional contractors and suppliers on the projects included Frattalone Companies, Grassland Solutions, Border States Electric, RP Construction Services and Ramy Turf.
Our Energy team is built on our company’s value of always doing the right thing for our customers and our people. Our people include our employees, their families, our customers, and our vendors. We have developed a strong relationship with preferred sub-contractors through numerous successful solar installations. These relationships proved to be crucial on the Northfield project, where we experienced an issue that could have potentially delayed the project by weeks. By collaborating with our trusted and valued partners, we quickly strategized and executed an efficient and safe solution.
KE has installed more than 400,000 kW of solar energy since 2017. Since the 2019 portfolio of projects, Nautilus has awarded KE with more than 46 MW of work, relating to planning, budgeting, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning. In 2019, KE was ranked #23 for solar contracting nationwide and #1 in Minnesota.
