Knobelsdorff Wins Top Eagle Award for Industrial Automation at Hubbard Feeds

(Goodhue, Minn.) February 6, 2025 – Knobelsdorff (KE) has been awarded the Top Eagle Award at the Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards Gala last week for their work at Hubbard Feeds in Iowa City, IA. This recognition highlights KE’s expertise in industrial automation, electrical upgrades, and infrastructure modernization, all completed while ensuring uninterrupted facility operations.

“Hubbard Feeds needed a system that could meet higher production demands while maintaining operational efficiency,” said Karl von Knobelsdorff, CEO of KE. “Our team developed and executed a plan to upgrade their facility with TerraKE™ automation, improved electrical infrastructure, and enhanced monitoring capabilities.”

This award builds upon KE’s industry recognitions, including the ABC 2024 MN/ND Platinum Step Award for safety, AQC recertification, and the ABC 2024 Top Performing US Construction Company award.

The Excellence in Construction Awards recognize standout projects across the country, with Hubbard Feeds selected for its successful transition from outdated manual processes to a fully automated and optimized system. The KE team:

  • Designed and installed a new electrical service entrance and centralized MCC room to streamline power distribution.
  • Integrated TerraKE MES, replacing outdated manual processes with a fully automated system for improved efficiency.
  • Installed hazard monitoring to ensure compliance with NFPA 61 and enhance facility safety.
  • Upgraded PLC and SCADA controls, enabling real-time data insights for better decision-making.
  • Executed a seamless 10-day shutdown, transitioning the plant to its new system with minimal downtime.
